Not sure how I feel about these….

J Crew released these saddle shoes. I have always liked the dark worn in saddle shoes, where the saddle (is that what it’s called?) doesn’t stand out. I think once these are worn in a bit they will look good. The canvas ones remind me of Joanie from Happy Days. Unless you’re Tom Wolfe it’s not most masculine look.

Sweater and Khakis

J Press changed their shaggy dog sweaters this year. Last year’s models fit much better. These ones feel bulkier for some reason.  A decent sweater and pair of khakis and I’m set. I recently ruined my favorite pair of khakis when I spilled wine all over them. Now I’ve bought 3 pairs from various stores in an effort to replace them and they all blow. The bottoms are too wide, they are too baggy, too slim, too ugly, etc…

Who would have thought getting a decent pair of khakis would be this difficult?

Putin

I really have nothing positive to say about Putin. The inflow of petrro-dollars to Russia over the past ten years has made him cocky, dangerous, and a threat to world stability. That being said, there is something I love about of world leader releasing pictures like this of himself.

Fallout 3

This game has been getting rave reviews. The kid working at Gamestop told me it’s one of the best games of the year. Maybe it is a great game, but it’s not for me. I like my video games like Charlie Sheen likes his women, easy and slightely depraved. Fallout requires way to much effort for some one like me. I like to come home after work and vegetate before I have have to meet the lady for dinner. This game requires a time commitment this pastey drunk just doesn’t have.

Bucks

I picked these up a few years back and while I like them, the truth is I have never been able to bring myself to wear them. These shoes made it out of my apartment about 2 times in the past 5 years. Not sure what it is? I like bucks, I like Paut Stuart, but I think these are a little too dandy for me. A better man could pull them off. I may have to unload them on ebay.

Alden Chukka

Last week I picked up these Alden chukka boots for the winter. Bought them up on Madison. They are very comfortable If you have the means, I highly recommend picking them up

Friday night

I haven’t been legitimately drunk in about six weeks. Between getting sick and getting crushed at work, I haven’t had the opportunity to get wasted. Tonight I’m going to throw some back. I’m a bourbon man these days and I’ve really been enjoying Bulleitt. It goes down pretty smooth, some times too smooth. After 3 glasses I’m ready to fight some one, dance, or pass out. If you’re in the mood, I highly recommend a glass a of Bulliett on the rocks… I know I use ice…I’m a pussy.

Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway

I really like this game. The reviews have been so-so, but I think it’s one of the better games I’ve played all year. I’m a fan of the entire Brothers in Arms series. This game is a first person shooter, but doesn’t follow the standard “blow everything up” model. The player is given control of his troops and can strategically place them on the battlefield to defeat the enemy. The story segments are tedious at times and the game takes a little while to fully rev up, but once it does it’s a good time. Not to mention that a night of video games is a night I’m not spending money out at a bar.

Hipsters love boat shoes

And unfortunately so do I. It’s always rough when the hipsters adopt one of your staple pieces of clothing. Do you surrender the item or fight the good the good fight? I guess with my job future hanging in the balance I really don’t have much of a choice. Can’t be spending money on new shoes when I need to be stacking up my war-chest until markets improve….who knows, the old lady suddenly likes them, so that’s a good thing.
